Home School

I’ve been intrigued by the concept of home schooling for as long as I can remember. There wasn’t much information on that when I was growing up because of the lack of technological facilities then. Now that the technology is available anytime, I’m getting exposed to more and more opportunities to enrich my son’s learning process.

One institution that offers an online home school program is The Jubilee Academy. They clearly answered the questions I had about home-based education and how it can supplement a child’s academic growth. Home schooling entails the parents’ dedication, which is something that I’m more than willing to give.

It’s not just academic learning, but also spiritual learning. I discovered from their site that they have bible-based curriculum. Teaching my son about spirituality is something I consider daunting, even more daunting than teaching him mathematics. I am relieved that there is a curriculum that shows us how to introduce our son to the teachings of the bible and Jesus Christ.

Christian online home school program is definitely something I have to consider in the near future, as AJ is going to school soon. I think that education from regular schools should be followed up and supplemented with home schooling, and right now, I am just glad that there is a convenient and effective way of doing this.

    I’ve been considering homeschooling as well… my son is having trouble in Kindergarten. I am finding it a rather difficult choice to make!

    Well, As long as your kids get social interaction from other sources, and more than a casual 2 hour a week visit, it would be a great experience for you both. Just remember school is not only for learning from books, but learning to live with others and working as a team.

    hi tara and paul!

    @tara
    I think it’s a good idea if a child has trouble with school, however
    Paul here points out the source of my worries….

    @Paul
    im thinking that if given the right tools, I can be a better teacher to my son than anyone, but there you go… interaction… i dont want him to just stay at home playing alone … he must have a bit of academic competition of sorts.

    Hi,

    My name is Drew from Learning By Grace. I’ve joined to focus on community and to open up a conversation with homeschooled kids and parents.

    What types of things would you guys like to see for students? A private social network, kind of like MySpace for example?

    @Drew
    Something like that would be nice. A social network for homeschooled kids.
