Pasta and Slurping

Sometimes AJ wants to eat something that’s not related to dinner or lunch. Like he just wants munchies. I usually keep biscuits and bread, but I’m thinking of serving pasta during snack time too. Ok my problem really is… How do I teach my baby to slurp?

For now, I just cut the pieces of the noodles and feed them to him with a spoon, but I think I should start teaching him how to slurp the noodles so that he will soon be doing it “like everyone else does”. I tried showing him how to do it by slurping the pasta noodles in front of him and making obvious slurping sounds, but all that did was make him laugh. Mommy does look funny slurping a spaghetti, eh?

*sigh*

It just looks so easy to raise a kid. Like, I never thought the nitty gritty of motherhood involved fretting over little things like how to teach my baby to slurp.

It’s so interesting how different cultures are around the world!

Slurping is considered rude here in America, and here’s a mom trying to teach her baby to slurp, LOL.

    Funny. :-)

haha. actually it’s also rude here to slurp excessively. but i won’t be there forever to cut his noodles for him… I’ve gotten feedback that it wil come naturally and I need not worry… maybe Im just being smothering and worrying about small small things. :D

    Probably.

Most of us do worry too much in the beginning with the whole “I want my child to be normal!” thing. :-)

But now I’m wondering if you meant “suck” like the action of sucking through a straw? Just give him his favorite drink with a straw, maybe he’ll get the concept & be able to do it with noodles too?

yeah that’s what I meant, sister! :D I’m sorry for the choice of words. I meant suck as in with a straw.
