Swimming Lessons for Babies?

This photo was taken when my son was about 8 months old.

Im actually thinking of enrolling my son to swimming lessons/tutorials. Would that be a good idea for the paranoid mom that I am? I have my doubts.

There was a documentary in some Philippine lifestyle show of babies being taught how to swim at a very early age. I remember being horrified at the clips of babies crying on the water holding their heads and float-swimming.

I have a few months to think about that before summer hits us and we’ll need to go to pools to cool up.

    Hi there,
My first son went to baby swimming classes when he was 4 months old and has been going swimming since (he is now 19 months). He loves it. He has never cried or been horrified. I must say they were special baby classes, with water at the right temperature and exercices adapted to babiy’s abilities. Get enough information before you enroll. But it’s the best way to get them to love water. And especially boys love water and are soothed by it.

    Go on, enroll your son..

thank you so much for your insights. I’m really just getting used to these overprotective feelings. Seems like I am even more paranoid when it comes to my son than my own safety. :D

    Oh, to be a mom…

Is there a swimming instructor that you could recommend in Pampanga? I would prefer one-to-one instruction, rather than a group class. My kids are ages 7 and 10.
