Hair Cut for Babies: Best Hair Cut Options

I heard that some parents cut their child’s hair. However, I couldn’t personally bring myself to cut AJ’s hair because

1. I don’t know how, and
2. Aj doesn’t like wearing caps or bonnets (*smiles*)

We had his first and second haircut in a kid’s haircut place called cuts4tots located in Glorietta, Makati, Philippines. Sadly, I don’t think that place is still in existence because it was located in the wing where the blast happened. Hopefully, they will re-locate somewhere else and continue providing hairdressing services for kids.

There are some barbershops that reject parents who want to have their kids’ hair cut. Their reason being, they just can’t handle kids (or don’t want to). I find this mean and downright inconsiderate. Not all malls have establishments like cut4tots that specialize in kids’ haircuts, and most of the time, parents just bring them to the available barbershops there.

Anyway, our experience with cuts4tots showed us that there really are very patient barbers who can handle kids well. AJ’s hairdresser there in the photo was among the most patient ones. He was quick to play with AJ when my son was getting restless. They have seats that look like bumper cars and a variety of toys to soothe tense babies (babies get tense when they get covered by the cloth from neck down, and they can’t see their hands).

The most ingenious feature has to be the TV set in front of the kids while they’re having their hair cut. It played Barney when we were there and my son was liking the show so much that he barely felt the barber cut his hair.

The haircut cost us 250-300 pesos, which was a bit pricey, but it was worth it! My son’s hair was professionally cut and doesn’t have the “amateurish” look seen in other kids who got their hair cut by unskilled hands.

When my kids were in their infancy stage, I would personally cut their hair. During those years I was able to learn how to cut hair by asking my friends that I cut their for free. Not knowing that I am using them as my “guinea pig”.Somehow I manage because I became the official hair cutter of our group.
